H. Mealing & Sons Limited, pleading guilty to breaching Section 2 (1) of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, was also ordered by Taunton Magistrates Court to pay £44,000 costs.
Gary Anstey, 57, was killed in the incident on 19th March 2019 at a construction site in Bath.
A 1.8-metre-high wall collapsed on him, with a Health & Safety Executive (HSE) investigation finding H. Mealing & Sons Limited had failed to properly plan and supervise the construction of the retaining wall.

This led to it becoming unstable when a large load of aggregate was placed against the incomplete wall which was not supported.
“This was a horrific incident which had heartbreaking consequences,” said HSE inspector Ian Whittles.
“It happened because of a lack of planning and coordination which is all too common in construction activity.
“With simple procedures and appropriate training this incident would not have happened.”
